Looking for an unique way to support the Save the Manatee Club?  Try participating in the Save the Manatee 5K, Two-Mile Walk or Mini-Mile.

The actual event is Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at Lake St. Clair Metropark, Michigan.  All participants receive manatee finisher medals and register early to receive a manatee t-shirt and a gift from the Save the Manatee Club.  Manatee pins are awarded to the top three finishers in the 5K, as well as trophies for the overall male, overall female, overall male master and overall female master.  This is a dog friendly event; even dogs receive a canine finisher medal.  The event is held on a paved, flat and picturesque course along Lake St. Clair; the park entrance fee of $10 is not included with race registration.  You can mail in the  Save the Manatee 2019 registration form or register on-line 2019 Actual Save the Manatee 5K, Walk and Manatee Mini Mile.

You can now participate from anywhere!  Manatee supporters everywhere can now also virtually participate in the event from any location. The race can be completed anywhere; run your favorite course, walk a scenic trail, jog on a treadmill or kayak in support of manatees!  Virtual participants will receive a manatee t-shirt, manatee race bib, and finisher’s medal.  You can mail in the 2019 Virtual Save the Manatee registration form  form or register on-line at 2019 Virtual Save the Manatee 5K or Walk.

How much of the virtual Race registration fee is actually a donation to Save the Manatee Club. And what Address can I use for that donation. I assume it is a 503(c) charity.

    1. Hello and thanks for thinking about manatees. Our event raises funds for the Save the Manatee Club, a 503(c) charity. We are teachers and decided to volunteer and host an event to help manatees, so all proceeds are donated to the Manatee Club. I would say between $20-25 of every virtual participant entry fee is donated (we only buy medals, t-shirts, bibs, and postage). With the virtual 5K event, you’ll receive a t-shirt, medal and race bib. If interested, our mailing address is Lesley Argiri, 37855 De Prez Court, Harrison Township, MI 48045. If you’d like, you can always donate directly to the Save the Manatee Club using their website: savethemanatee.org. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    1. We offer a 5K (3.1 mile) run or walk and a two mile walk. We also have a mile event, you can run or walk, open to any age.

    1. You can definitely walk or run the 5K; no problem. We also have a two mile walk if you are interested in a shorter distance.

  2. My registration from the 2018 virtual run is interfering with my registering for the 2019 event. Help!

  3. Has anyone ever contacted you about opening up in-person races in other parts of the country? I have a daughter that loves manatees and has had one adopted in the past, I was just thinking that helping to set up a sister race in our home town might be a good project for her to work on for her Girl ascout Gild award. She is still a few years away from qualifying for the award, but I think it would be a wonderful project to pursue! Please feel free to reach out to me at my email address if you have any info or ideas. Mary Jo

    1. Hello, we have thought about it. However, we are both full time teachers and just volunteer our time to host this event. The virtual option was the best available choice for us at this time. I love the idea of your daughter coordinating a group run.
